“My source of inspiration is everything that surrounds me and impacts me. Each piece is like a son, a part of you that reflects who you are, and in which those who know you recognize you.”

—Interview with Emelia Viaña for Expansión, October 29, 2025

“I understand my work as a work in progress, in which nothing is left to chance and coherence is paramount. Novelty is not an end in itself. I believe it should never be. Novelty is, if anything, the consequence of a constant curiosity and exploration that shape that evolution: the composer's.”

—Interview with Paco Yáñez for The Composer Speaks, November 1, 2025

"Composition is a way of life that helps give it meaning, sometimes to understand it; other times, to accept the incomprehensible."

"... I aim to capture my idea in the score with the utmost precision using all the means at my disposal."

"I see music as a form of communication; that is its ultimate goal."

— Carme Fernández Vidal

Interview with Carme Fernández Vidal, by Ruth Prieto.

"Composition is a way of life; it allows us to grow as human beings, and along that path, it's necessary to look at both the sublime and the infamous."

"Each new work involves a renewed obsession with managing events in time, seeking the balance of these events within a framework of temporal architectural structure. Avoiding the superfluous, focusing on the essential. And of course, imagining, and listening to the point of obsession. I can spend an embarrassingly large amount of time deciding how long I want that sound, that resonance, or that silence to last."

"You always start with an idea—let's say a somewhat blurred one—and gradually you have to sculpt it. In this process, I would say that I act, but so does She."

"Whenever I get involved in a project, especially if it is national or international, I look for a way to bring my land, my environment, and my self into it, after all. I went directly to find something related to the Balearic Islands, and when I saw it, I was absolutely certain: it is an utterly captivating figure."

“Her meticulous and controlled writing avoids gratuitous gestures; each sound seems to carry the symbolic weight of a sign; each silence, the value of a breath… Everything responds to an idea of sonic goldsmithing, of patient polishing and emotional precision… A work that doesn’t seek to dazzle, but to insinuate; that doesn’t explain, but suggests… The composer, present in the hall, was deservedly applauded because Se sueña que se está soñando left in the air that impression of mystery that accompanies truly personal music.”

“A new creation by Carme Fernández Vidal that confirms, once again, the solidity and coherence of her sonic universe… A score that synthesizes much of what has been expressed in previous works and, moreover, seems to open up new paths to explore…

Coherent and avoiding superfluous embellishments and flourishes… an important piece in her catalog.”

“Se sueña que se está soñando”, according to a quote by Eugenio Trías, which provokes a psychological introspection into the composer's musical memory, transfiguring her own sonic experiences into beautifully structured, shifting materials with a keen sense of timbre. Time, memory, and dream converge in a piece that unfolds along interesting formal paths and gives us a glimpse of this composer's keen creative sense…the sonic dream is a great source of inspiration and achieves an atmosphere close to a surrealist aesthetic, something extremely difficult to attain in music, and which here works with natural ease.”

"The performance concluded with a very striking piece of extraordinary quality, *Dama de Eivissa* based on a Punic terracotta of Tanit from the 3rd century BC, written by the Majorcan Carme Fernández Vidal in the form of a diptych. It offers us two different but complementary views of a ritual aspect of music that is as ancient as it is contemporary. Truly well-crafted, it is like a sonic enchantment that envelops us and propels us towards the past with modern resources toward the future."

"Carme Fernández's Concert per a flauta i arc (Concerto per flauto e archi) transformed the Aljub into a magical place, with Josep Francesc Palou as the soloist, once again showcasing his virtuosity in a delightful piece. Supported by a Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Remartínez, the performance displayed a full range of its possibilities with precise, clear, and vibrant execution."

"Los textos de Falk y Krenek, en esta versión castellana, permitirán un acceso hasta ahora restringido a un material de valor didáctico articulado alrededor del contrapunto como eje de un particular proyecto pedagógico".

"The pieces by Carme Fernández Vidal, *La admonició apocalíptica* and *Stratvm Mvtvvm*, recently composed, are a refined treatise, well-balanced dynamically, carrying a melodic instinct that breaks into sharp dissonance. The result is a finished work that communicates and endures".

"Professor Carme Fernández Vidal of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears personally received applause for her works, Eguzkilore—piano music of brilliant and resonant quality—and the premiered Tasta un nigul, characterized by dreamlike qualities and sonic masking, as well as a great sense of emotional tempo."
